It's been a while since I posted here. I hacve been jumping back and forth between this and the EV project.
I have had some significant progress in the last few weeks on the 4X4.
Short story is :
The 1.9 TD is connected to a yota 4X4 transmission with an ACME adapter plate and working.
The motor and tranny are now suspended in the vehicle in the mounting location.
The drive shaft is connected to the rear differential with the original yota drive shaft. This was not planned that way but it fits perfect. (52inches)
The front drive shaft for the hard axle needs to be shortened 9 inches.
The steering shaft is through the firewall and inches from the Pitman gear box for the original steering connections for the Toyota, again can't believe that it lines up so nicely. See the photos for the details of all the above.

Steering coupling
Next steps include:
Fabricating the motor mounts, now that the final position is confirmed.
Mount the power steering pump on the left side of the engine.
Connect the hydraulic clutch.
Finalize the mounting of the new front shocks.
Finalize the front seat configuration, install stick shifts and close in the floor.
Finalize the new fuel tank configuration. (2 tanks left and right in that cavity below the floor and behind the seats.)
Install radiator turbo filter, ducting and front grill.
Figure out and install exhaust system.
Finalize camper fittings.
Go camping ...........
The list is mostly for my own tracking.
I am happy with the progress thru the winter, definitely reached the point where it looks like it is all going to work.
Watch for further progress thru the spring/summer.
