My van leaks thru the windshield wiper bearing and runs down along the corner sometimes.
What did the guy do with the original windshield, I need one.

Probably still has it, but it I think it was chipped. I wouldn't bother with a used one though. It's just a flat piece of laminated glass. Just about any glass shop could cut you one.

My wiper shafts used to leak, but I disassembled them and added o-rings seals. But my corner castings still have a small leak.

Replaced the transmission:
The fifth gear started making noises a few months back, so I just avoided using 5th.
Last month 4th started making noises too.
So dropped the tranny, yes you can do it without pulling engine, and bolted a new one in place.
Back to highway speeds :)
Disassembling the old tranny found these parts and the debris of course.

Lesson learned check the oil more often, and one could probably change the gears in situ, the rest of the tranny looked fine.
Cleaning out debris would be the big issue but I suspect you could flush it out with enough fluid

Was the oil level low when the noise started happening?

I worry about this happening, so I've started checking my oil through the speedo cable hole fairly often.

Yup I am on it now that's for sure, It was a nasty surprise.
That said I was able to drive avoiding 5th for quite a while, (after I topped up the oil of course)
I think the fourth gear only started to fail because every once in a while I would forget I did not have a 5th gear and it would tear a few more teeth off and drop them in the bottom to be picked up somewhere else. :)

Take care nice to hear from you trust all is well up there.

007 was towed to me today for no start/run...

problem...

1) he changed fuel filters... now got air leak... but not original issue...
2.) fuel pump pressurises/vacume.. remove/loosen out bolt.. ppssshhhh sound... my guess removing fuel cap fixed... vent in cap stuck... easy fix.. keep 1/4 turn loose...

3.) whole problem... this doozy too... 10+ years of ownership... always started odd.. like you had to crank it up to rpm, give it throttle to keep from dying once it hits... bad ignition switch... kills pump power when you lett off the key.. the high rpm was eough to keep it running for the second the power to pump got inturepted.. aka 10 years o my crap starts like poo... to my god.. one of the best diesels ever...
