Roadtrip with my kubvan "TED"

Postby HonkHonk » Wed Sep 25, 2013 12:02 pm

I did a fantastic road trip this summer with my Kubvan; 10400kms from Victoria BC to Ontario and back again. Here's a postcard movie of TED's Big Adventure:

No mechanical problems, top speed of about 100km/hr, average speed of about 85kms/hr. Box empty or full the speed didn't change.
Border guards sure were curious. A farmer in northern Michigan saw my truck and sent me an email to say how fun the truck looked.
Of course with "HonkHonk" printed on the back and side, I had a lot of horns and smiles passing me in the fast lane.

About 780 Litres. I was glad I had diesel in some stretches, because there weren't a lot of stations on some routes.
Thanks for your encouragement that the van could make it on a trip like that. ;)

Round trip just over a $1000 bucks I am guessing, pretty good !!!
Great memories, would have been a lot of fun.
We will have to catch up over a brew when I am in Victoria some time.

Yup, it was about a grand. Steady prices through the states but all over the map in Canada. Carried an alternator belt, some 50/50 coolant, and a tire plug kit and crossed my fingers for everything else. :D

Sure thing about a meet up. I'll be grounded here in Vic for the year ahead. $$

Yeah, both links seem to be dead. Sounds like a great trip though. I'm hoping to do a 10,000 mile trip in mine maybe next fall.
