i did it....

me me me...

cable shift into a kubvan... i did it in mine...

its a stock tranny vw started to use in 90 in passats/corrados.. then they used them in mk3 tdi and vr6... they not the same bellhousing so must get one for a 4 not a 6..

they will bolt right to any 4 that vw made.. so old 1.6idi thru the tdi and td idi is no issue..

the draw backs...

have to buy custom mounts to make it fit.. ~$300 for them to buy.. else you make your own..
have to add a hydrolic clutch master to the pedals.. in a kubvan simple as lots of room...
have to get 16v axles, (100mm joints) so a little grinding required to fit them into the spindles and NOT lock up when nut tightened..

some pics of my hydro set up..

Image
its tha one from a 98 jetta.. the b3/b4 passat would be much simpler as they use a pin on the clutch pedal..

one of the nice things is bulk 6mm brake line from a part store has the proper fittings to extend the stock rubber hydro line to fit this.. did not have to mod any stock hydro parts.. was plug and play :D

i mounted my fluid resivor under the dash.. was a mits brake master cylender resivore.. they are remote mounted... so easy to use that bracket some new line and a t to make it work like butter..

but my fab skillz let me build this..
Image
at the top of the clutch pedal to use the 98 style.. aka rectangular box vs a pin..

Image
how i have my shifter installed..

many pics at www dot crsmp5 dot com under burnt toast.. question sfeel free to ask..

some new photos..

Image
since i cannot say i did a under dash photo... to the left is the clutch slave... the 6mm brake line feeds to the slave under hood.. attached to the line i smy boost controller so i can change how much boost i make on the fly.. and to the left of that and up is the mitsu brake fluid resivor cap.. which feeds my clutch master

may be ugly.. but unless your looking.. you cannot see it

p.s. my webpages show more of the photo... here crops it smaller then the 1200 wide i upload my stuff at..

Can I get the pics updated on this thread? I may have fallen into a really cheap 02m swap from a mk5 tdi.. I just finished the auto rebuild but this may be my next venture in my high floor. Ideally I want to put the shifter in the stock autobox shifter spot... You know for that Honda oem like look :).

But i can see in my head how to get shift linkage vs cables as the box is the issue... Linkage... Ever seen some of those little french cars... From 60s... I can be crazy like them..

Have a link to what he tried? I think it is possible. The key will be I might need a solid rod section in between.

No.... Have to search for tdi kubvans there.... 09ish.... He had stuff milled via cnc looked cool... But cables are big portion of the issue... Id look for the kit someone made to use mk1 rod shift adaped to o2a/j to copy... Then using a mk1 base plate in the dash with a few odd new pieces made
